What You’ll Do

Join a remote-first team focused on medical document analysis and healthcare NLP. You will:

  • Develop, train, evaluate, and troubleshoot deep learning models for medical/clinical text and document analysis (NLP).
  • Build and iterate on models using PyTorch and Transformer-based architectures.
  • Run experiments and manage model training in AWS (EC2/SageMaker or equivalent) and ensure reproducible results.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis, statistical validation, and error analysis on large text datasets.
  • Implement and maintain data pipelines and ETL for large-scale textual data (PySpark or similar).
  • Collaborate with the technical lead and cross-functional stakeholders to align objectives, document experiments, and deliver model outputs.
  • Use Git/GitHub for version control and follow established MLOps and experiment-tracking practices.

What We’re Looking For

Minimum qualifications and skills (required):

  • Proven experience in Python for machine learning and deep learning workflows.
  • Hands-on experience with PyTorch and Transformer libraries (Hugging Face Transformers or similar).
  • Strong understanding of statistics, model evaluation metrics, and exploratory data analysis for textual data.
  • Experience training and debugging deep learning models for text (classification, information extraction, sequence labeling, etc.).
  • Familiarity with AWS for compute and storage, and comfort running experiments in a cloud environment.
  • Experience using Git/GitHub for version control and collaboration.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Statistics, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with large language models (LLMs) and prompt-based methods.
  • Experience with PySpark, Spark NLP, or large-scale ETL processing for textual data.
  • Familiarity with MLOps tools (experiment tracking, model registry, CI/CD for ML).
  • Background in healthcare, medical text analysis, or experience with PHI-aware workflows (knowledge of privacy considerations is a plus).
  • Prior experience on contract/consulting engagements or in a fast-paced start-up or staffing environment.

Compensation & Employment Type

  • Employment type: Contractor (hourly).
  • Pay range: $37 - $71 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
  • This posting includes the pay range to comply with applicable U.S. compensation transparency requirements.

Location & Work Authorization

  • Primary location: New Ulm, MN (Telecommute / Remote-eligible).
