Position Overview

As part of the actuarial organization at our confidential client, you will support the Portfolio and Alternative Risk Transfer actuarial group by building and maintaining data pipelines, automating data flows, and producing business intelligence to monitor pricing and portfolio health for captives and insurance programs. You will work alongside experienced actuaries and data professionals, using R, Python, SQL, and other tools to enable pricing decisions, create reports and visualizations, and improve data quality. This role follows a hybrid work model (in-office at least 3 days per week).


What You’ll Do

  • Build, run, and maintain ETL/data pipelines using SQL, R, Python, and related tools to ingest pricing and portfolio data into the data warehouse
  • Normalize and validate data for consistency and accuracy across sources used for pricing captives and insurance programs
  • Create and maintain BI reports and dashboards (Power BI or Tableau) that surface Pricing KPIs and portfolio health metrics
  • Manage database interactions and develop exhibits and visualizations to support actuarial analysis and underwriting decisions
  • Automate recurring data tasks and scripts (VBA, Python, R) to increase efficiency and reduce manual effort
  • Partner with actuarial colleagues and underwriting teams to develop analytical tools and ad-hoc analyses that support pricing and risk assessment
  • Work confidently with AI-enabled/automation tools where applicable; apply judgment to interpret outputs and improve processes
  • Contribute to data quality initiatives and cross-functional collaboration to improve source systems and downstream reporting

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong hands-on experience with SQL and working knowledge of R and Python
  • Experience with VBA for automation or Excel-based analytics in an actuarial/analytical environment
  • Experience building dashboards and visualizations in Power BI or Tableau (preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree (quantitative field preferred) with strong academic performance
  • Minimum ~2 years of experience in a data analyst role or equivalent experience from insurance, finance, IT, data science, or math-focused roles/curricula
  • Familiarity with insurance concepts and actuarial pricing (captives, portfolios) is strongly preferred but not required
  • Strong attention to detail, data validation skills, and high accuracy standards
  • Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize tasks, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Customer-focused mindset when delivering reports and tools to internal stakeholders

Compensation & Benefits

Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below any posted range based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, and skills. Total compensation may include base pay, annual cash bonus, and other discretionary compensation.
