What You’ll Do

You will join a Government & Public Services consulting team as an Actuarial Analyst, contributing to engagements that support public-sector and nonprofit clients. In this role you will:

  • Build financial and mathematical models to improve organizational performance and inform client decisions
  • Analyze large data sets using statistical methods to quantify risk and identify trends
  • Translate data-driven insights into actionable recommendations that comply with industry standards and regulations
  • Support client deliverables, create clear documentation, and present findings to internal teams and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary consulting teams across strategy, operations, and technology workstreams

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop actuarial and statistical models to estimate liabilities, forecast financial outcomes, and evaluate risk
  • Perform data preparation, cleansing, and exploratory analysis on large structured data sets
  • Use quantitative methods to produce clear, client-facing analyses and dashboards
  • Contribute to project planning, lead discrete workstreams, and help manage timelines and deliverables
  • Pursue actuarial credentials and apply exam learnings to real-world client problems

The Team

Our client’s Government & Public Services practice advises government agencies, higher education institutions, and nonprofit organizations on strategy, operations, technology, and transformation initiatives. You will work in a collaborative, growth-oriented environment with opportunities to specialize and build a professional brand across public-sector engagements.


Qualifications

Required

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university with expected graduation by Summer 2027, or have a completed bachelor’s degree (Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent)
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Reside within a commutable distance (e.g., ~100-mile radius) of the assigned office with the ability to commute daily if required
  • Ability to travel up to 50% on average, depending on client needs
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
  • Candidates must be at least 18 years of age at the time of employment

Preferred

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher
  • Internship, project, or coursework experience in actuarial science, statistics, or applied mathematics
  • Progress toward actuarial credentials (SOA, CAS, or Joint Board)

Location, Type & Compensation

  • Location: Chicago, IL (office-based or hybrid depending on client needs). You must be able to commute to the assigned office.
  • Employment type: Full-time, Permanent (Entry-level)
  • Travel: Up to ~50% (average, based on clients and projects)
  • Compensation (estimate): $88,000 to $91,000 per year. This range is a good-faith estimate and may vary based on factors such as experience, credentials, and the final office location.

This is an entry-level opportunity intended for candidates beginning or building an actuarial career in consulting. Candidates will gain exposure to multiple public-sector clients and have opportunities to develop both technical actuarial skills and consulting capabilities.
