Role overview
This is an entry-level Analyst role supporting a Credit Products / Portfolio Management team at a confidential client in the Accounting & Finance industry. The position is designed to develop credit analysis, financial modeling, underwriting, and market research skills. You will work with relationship management, credit administration, capital markets, and other partners to analyze and summarize creditworthiness for commercial lending products.
Key responsibilities
- Gather and analyze financial and business information to assess creditworthiness for loan and credit products.
- Build and maintain financial spreads and cash‑flow models; analyze capitalization and collateral.
- Perform underwriting for commercial loans in accordance with credit policy.
- Complete risk ratings, performance tear‑sheets, compliance testing, and portfolio monitoring tasks.
- Conduct industry and market research and summarize findings for internal stakeholders.
- Prepare concise credit writeups and presentation materials for credit reviews.
- Support other portfolio management and underwriting activities as assigned.
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- 0–2 years of experience in underwriting, commercial banking, credit analysis, or a related finance role.
- FINRA Series 79, 63, or equivalent required — or must be obtained within 4 months of hire.
- Strong Excel skills, including financial statement analysis and basic financial modeling.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively across internal teams and to manage competing priorities.
Preferred / Nice-to-have
- Prior internship or work experience in commercial banking, credit, or corporate finance.
- Familiarity with credit policy, risk rating methodologies, and collateral analysis.
- Experience with portfolio monitoring or compliance testing.
Compensation & benefits
- Base salary range: $52,000 - $101,000 per year (range represents anticipated low and high end of base pay; actual pay will vary based on location, experience, and education).
- Eligible for applicable incentive compensation plan and standard benefits including health insurance, retirement savings, paid leave, and other programs as provided by the confidential client.
Location & work arrangement
- Primary workplace: Chicago, IL (Illinois Medical District). Role is eligible for a flexible arrangement with remote work options; specific work schedule will be provided by the hiring team.
