What You’ll Do

You will support the data engineering needs for our confidential client by building, operating, and improving data systems and pipelines that power analytics and reporting. This role focuses on reliable data ingestion, transformation, monitoring, and documentation to enable data-driven decisions across analytics and BI teams.


Responsibilities

  • Engineer, deploy, and monitor ETL/ELT pipelines and data ingestion workflows using modern tooling (Python, PySpark, Databricks, Azure Data Factory, etc.).
  • Build and maintain data pipelines to collect, clean, transform, and load structured and semi-structured data into analytics environments.
  • Collaborate with analytics engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver production-ready datasets.
  • Create, maintain, and optimize data models, views, and database objects (tables, indices, UDFs) to support dashboards and reporting.
  • Implement and maintain data quality checks, observability, and remediation processes; produce data hygiene and quality reports.
  • Document data flows, schemas, and ERDs; maintain data catalogs and lineage where applicable.
  • Ensure data protection, security, and governance controls are followed, particularly for PII and sensitive information.
  • Troubleshoot and remediate production incidents and performance issues in data platforms and pipelines.
  • Communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders and provide support for dashboarding/BI requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • 0–2 years of relevant experience as a data engineer, analytics engineer, or similar role.
  • Strong programming skills in Python; experience with PySpark or Spark-based processing.
  • Familiarity with Databricks, Spark, Hadoop, or other big data technologies.
  • Experience with cloud data services — especially Azure (Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory) and NoSQL technologies.
  • Experience creating and managing database objects (tables, views, indices, UDFs, triggers).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality and testing.
  • Clear written and verbal communication; ability to explain technical topics to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
  • BA/BS in mathematics, engineering, physics, computer science, or related quantitative field (or equivalent experience).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with analytics/BI tools and dashboard production support.
  • Experience implementing data governance and PII controls in production systems.
  • Interest or experience in sports, live entertainment, or related industries.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD for data pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and monitoring tools.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay range: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour.
  • Bonus: This position is not eligible for a bonus under the current bonus plan requirements.
