What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Tax Staff I to join their Financial Services tax team in Melville, NY. In this role you will learn and assist with federal and state income tax return preparation, tax planning, and tax provision work for corporate and individual clients under the supervision of experienced staff.
- Assist with preparation and review of federal and state income tax returns for corporate and individual clients
- Support tax provision completion and review activities
- Help with tax research and basic tax planning tasks
- Maintain organized workpapers and documentation for compliance and review
- Collaborate with engagement teams and communicate with clients when appropriate
- Use MS Excel and Word to manage data, prepare schedules and support analyses
Who We’re Looking For (Required)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting (or equivalent) from an accredited college or university
- 0–2 years recent public accounting experience (entry-level candidates encouraged)
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future
- Ability to reliably commute to the assigned Melville office and client sites as required
- Able to work in a hybrid environment with in-office requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Pursuing educational requirements for CPA licensure (may differ by state)
- Pursuing 150 academic credits or a Master’s degree in Accounting (preferred)
- Final graduation between Dec 2026 – Sept 2027
- Minimum GPA ~3.0 and a strong academic track record
- Strong MS Excel and MS Word skills
- Excellent time management, organization, and communication skills
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently and in teams
- Demonstrated analytical skills and willingness to learn
