What You’ll Do

As an Early Careers Software Engineer in this two-year Software Engineer Program, you will contribute to high-impact technology projects in a modern engineering environment. You will learn through structured training and mentorship while delivering production-quality software.

• Design, develop, test, and troubleshoot software solutions.
• Communicate clearly in writing and verbally: articulate problems, document solutions, and prompt approved AI-assisted tools to produce high-quality outputs.
• Collaborate with engineers, managers, and stakeholders to understand problems and deliver reliable solutions.
• Leverage approved AI development tools (code generation, refactoring, test creation, documentation) while validating outputs through peer review and automated testing.
• Apply automation and modern tooling across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to improve delivery efficiency and reliability.
• Participate in technology-for-good initiatives to help deliver social-impact solutions.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities & Skills

To be considered you must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or 5th-year Master’s degree with expected graduation between July 2026 and June 2027, or have graduated by June 2027 and be available to start full-time in July 2027.
• Major or specialization in Computer Science, Information Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, or a related field.
• Experience designing, developing, testing, and troubleshooting software as part of an engineering team (coursework, projects, or internships count).
• Proficiency writing secure, high-quality code in at least one programming language, following established standards.
• Practical use of automation and modern tooling across the SDLC to reduce manual effort and increase consistency.
• Experience or willingness to use approved AI development tools responsibly, including validating and owning final outputs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated understanding of core software engineering concepts via coursework, projects, or internships.
• Experience solving open-ended or ambiguous technical problems and iterating based on feedback.
• Proven ability to validate AI-generated outputs and maintain ownership of quality, correctness, and security.
• Curiosity about emerging technologies and thoughtful judgment about when to apply them.
• Interest in building technology that creates real-world impact.

Compensation & Location

• Location (authoritative): Chicago, IL (this posting is for the Chicago role).
• Base pay (Chicago, IL): $85,500 — $110,000 per year.
• Employment type: Full time, Permanent.
• Note: Total rewards may include additional benefits and discretionary incentives where applicable; final compensation is determined by role, experience, skill set, and location.

Program Overview

This is a global, two-year early-career development program that combines structured learning, mentorship, and hands-on project work. You’ll start with an in-depth induction to engineering standards and development methodologies and receive ongoing coaching and opportunities for career growth across the firm.
