What You’ll Do

This entry-level Software Engineer role contributes to the design, development, testing, and integration of software for defense and intelligence mission applications. You will work on multi-disciplinary teams developing software for C4ISR and mission management systems, supporting backend, frontend, and system integration tasks as needed.

  • Write, debug, and maintain clean, well-tested code (primarily Java).
  • Integrate software with hardware and contribute to system-level integration and regression testing.
  • Work with AI/ML services and tools to prototype and integrate ML-powered capabilities.
  • Participate in Agile development ceremonies and collaborate with engineers, systems integrators, and test teams.
  • Support product demonstrations, software installations, and system testing; occasional travel may be required.
  • Follow secure development practices and comply with program security requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field by June 2027 (Master's required for higher-level titles as noted by the client).
  • Less than or equal to 6 months of full-time software engineering experience (internships not counted toward this limit for some levels).
  • Proficient in Java and solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming and OOAD principles.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance by the U.S. Federal Government.
  • Legally authorized to work and meet any US Person status requirements for the position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with one or more additional languages: C/C++, C#, Python, or JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with backend, frontend, or full-stack development and software architecture concepts.
  • Knowledge or coursework related to AI, Machine Learning, or Large Language Models.
  • Internships, research, or university projects demonstrating software development experience.
  • Familiarity with any of the following tools, frameworks, or platforms:
    • Spring / Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, Microservices, Swagger, Kafka, ActiveMQ
    • Linux / UNIX, Maven, Gradle
    • CI/CD pipelines, AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins, Nexus
    • Front-end: TypeScript, React, Angular, HTML, CSS
    • Databases: SQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Redis
    • IDEs and tooling: VSCode, Eclipse, IntelliJ, Git, Jira, Postman

Work Schedule & Location

  • Primary work location: San Diego, CA.
  • This role is full-time and may follow a 9/80 schedule as noted by the client.
  • Some travel may be required for demonstrations, installations, or system testing.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Full-Time Salary Range: $66,017 - $105,628 (provided by the client).
    • This range reflects the client’s market pay structures; actual pay offered will consider candidate experience, skills, location, and internal equity.
