Role Overview

Confidential Client seeks early-career Materials Engineers for their 2027 Engineering Rotational Development Program (ERDP) — Materials Track. This entry-level, full-time rotational program places participants in three 12-month assignments across the Midwest, with hands-on projects, mentorship, and broad exposure to materials engineering disciplines including ferrous metallurgy, failure analysis, heat-treat engineering, quality engineering, and product development.


What You’ll Do

You will learn on the job through structured rotations and contribute to technical projects that support product performance and manufacturing quality.

  • Rotate through three, 12-month assignments primarily in midwestern U.S. locations.
  • Support foundry, lab, and production activities for ferrous metallurgy and cast/wrought steels.
  • Perform failure analysis using metallography, fractography, and microscopy techniques.
  • Work with manufacturing teams on heat-treat operations, recipe development, and quality control.
  • Provide materials engineering support to product development and design teams.
  • Apply root cause analysis and problem-solving to field and factory issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers to implement solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet all items below to be considered.

  • ABET-accredited Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a Materials Engineering discipline (e.g., Metallurgical Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering). A Mechanical Engineering degree with a minor in Materials Engineering may be considered.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 (no rounding).
  • 12 months or less of prior professional work experience (internships/co-ops excluded).
  • Willingness to relocate and travel as required by rotations.
  • Must attach a resume and an unofficial/official copy of your transcript to your application.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship (Visa sponsorship is NOT available).

Preferred / Helpful Background

  • Involvement in campus design/competition teams or similar projects.
  • Project or team leadership experience.
  • Previous technical internship or co-op in materials, metallurgy, or manufacturing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, analytical thinking, and root-cause analysis.

Work Location & Schedule

  • Primarily in-person, Monday through Friday.
  • Most positions based in Peoria / Mossville, Illinois, with limited openings elsewhere in the United States.
  • Relocation assistance available to qualified candidates.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Summary pay range: $81,370.00 - $133,810.00 per year (range reflects hiring range for this posting).
