What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring entry-level Wells Engineers as part of an early-career development program (Horizons). This role combines office and field-based assignments to build core wells engineering skills. Typical responsibilities include:
- Participate in both field assignments (drill site representative, well site representative for frac spreads and well intervention) and office assignments (drilling, completions, or well intervention engineering).
- Support drilling engineering activities: cost estimation, bit and drill-string design, casing and cement design, and mud program design.
- Support completions engineering activities: well completion design (fracture or sand control), completion fluid recommendations, production tubing design and nodal analysis to optimize production.
- Support well intervention engineering activities: design, plan, supervise, and support well intervention and completion procedures; apply technologies such as coiled tubing and snubbing units.
- Work through a structured Horizons development plan combining on-the-job training with technical learning, with mobility across assignments and potential opportunities to transfer to other domestic or international locations as experience develops.
Qualifications
Candidates who meet the following requirements are encouraged to apply:
- Students completing their final year of a Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate in Petroleum, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering — or recent graduates (less than 2 years of directly related work experience) with those degrees.
- Strong academic performance in core engineering coursework.
- Demonstrated communication, leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
- Position may require routine driving and field travel.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. is required for this role (see Additional Information).
Compensation & Benefits
- The anticipated salary range for this position is $120,000 - $144,000 annually. Final compensation will be determined based on degree level and discipline.

Location & Mobility
- Authoritative work location for this posting: Houston, TX (primary).
- Assignments may be based at a range of operating locations across the U.S.; locations historically used for this program have included Bakersfield, CA; Covington, LA; Midland, TX; and Greeley, CO.
- Mobility and willingness to accept varied assignments (office and field) are encouraged and can support career progression.
